This year marks the 2576th anniversary of Confucius' birth. On September 28,the 2025 Global "Cloud Confucius Commemoration" live streaming event was successfully held. Sponsored by Nishan World Center for Cnfucian Studies and China Confucius Foundation, it was co-hosted by China Confucius Net(www.chinakongzi.org), the Cultural Inheritance and Development Center of Jining city, and the Confucius Culture Center in South Korea.

As a key segment of the 2025 China International Confucius Cultural Festival, the event, themed "Benevolence and Rites for All, Harmony and Great Unity", was simutaneous broadcast at the main studio and numerous venues at home and abroad participated by over 60 Confucian temples, academies, and Confucius Homes across Chinese provinces, municipalities, Hong Kong, Macao, and overseas, attracting 35 million online viewers to participate.

The live streaming features specially invited experts and scholars who gave on-site interpretation of the historical connotation and contemporary value of the Confucius Commemoration Ceremony. Scholars from the "Qilu Visiting and Research Residency Program" and overseas sinologists shared their insights into Confucius and Confucianism, explaining how Confucian culture exerts its influence on the world stage.

Qufu Confucian Temple and Quzhou Confucian Temple are the two major venues to hold the Commemoration ceremonies, displaying the inheritance of Confucianism in north and south China,while Yazhou Academy in Hainan, Jianshui Confucian Temple in Yunnan, and Nanning Confucian Temple in Guangxi presented the practice of the integration of Confucianism with ethnic minority cultures. Meanwhile, Tokyo Confucian Temple (Japan), Ashikaga Gakko Confucian Temple (Japan), Sungkyunkwan (South Korea), Jeju Hyanggyo (South Korea), and Confucian Supreme Council of Indonesia demonstrated the cross-cultural integration of Confucian thought in overseas countries. Global audiences were able to watch the event online and share the wisdom of the ancient sage dispite of time difference and space distance.

The feature film Watching Confucianism Along the Frontierssorted out the spread of Confucianism in China's border areas from Zhang Qian's mission to the Western Regions in the pre-Qin period to the establishment of Confucius Homes and Confucian Academies in modern times, creating a historical picture of Confucianism's spread in border regions.

The live broadcast also comprehensively showcased Confucius commemoration activities carried out by schools, social organizations, and Confucius Homes across the country, demonstrating the vigorous vitality and innovative development of Confucian culture at the grassroots level.

The online Confucius livestreaming platform for this event was optimized and upgraded, with new functions such as virtual Confucius commemoration ceremony, AI Q&A challenges, and digital versions of Confucian classics. Social media topics gained tremendous popularity. Hashtags including #2025 Global Cloud Confucius Commemoration# and #The Cultural Output of Online Confucius Commemoration Ceremony Amazing# and #The Ritual Atmosphere of 2025 Global Online Confucius Memorial Ceremony is Off the Charts# created an upsurge of national discussion on Confucianism.

This event was simulcast by China Confucius Net in collaboration with 70 other overseas platforms, opening a window for global audiences to gain an in-depth understanding of China's fine traditional culture.

Since 2016, the Global "Online Confucius Commemoration" event has been held for ten sessions. Interpreting the ritual and music culture of Confucius’Commemoration Ceremony, the event is a vivid practice by exploring innovative expressions and activity forms of this traditional event. It has demonstrated the vigorous vitality, unique charm, and strong appeal of China's fine traditional culture, and has become a brand for continuing the historical context, enhancing cultural identity, uniting the strength of Chinese people, and promoting the exchange and mutual learning of world civilizations.
